Meet the Team
“By nature, I’m a very thorough and detail-oriented person. These qualities have served me well– they allow me to be a very comprehensive and focused dentist.
While I’ve heard it said that people can’t envision ever choosing dentistry as a career; for me, it’s a match made in heaven! I absolutely LOVE my chosen profession and can’t even imagine ever doing anything else.”
A SOLID EDUCATION serves as a foundation for a life dedicated to service.
“I’m extremely grateful for the education I’ve received. I am also fortunate to have graduated from such excellent schools. It gives my patients the confidence that they are in good hands and will get the high quality dental care that they deserve.”
- Graduate: Bachelor of General Science, University of Iowa Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
CONTINUING EDUCATION shows a dedication to keeping up with the profession and a commitment to being the best that one can be.
“My education didn’t end when I graduated. It actually was just the beginning. Every year since I’ve graduated, I’ve taken advanced courses and seminars so I can provide you with the latest sound materials, techniques, and treatments.”
- Continuing education: TMJ Diagnosis and Treatment, Occlusion, Equilbration, Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Implant Restorations, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, and Materials.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and information with colleagues.
“Through my membership and participation in professional organizations, I have an opportunity to share and learn from my peers. This creates an incredible ‘brain trust’ from which I can tap into to provide you with the best quality care and service.”
- Member: American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Equilibration Society, Chicago Dental Society, Greater Kansas City Dental Society.
CARING VOLUNTEER who gives back to the community.
“I grew up with the life ethic of ‘it’s better to give than to receive’. Helping others; however done, is the ultimate service to your fellow man.”
- Volunteer: City Union Mission dentist
- (former) Platte County Optimist Club
- Coordinator: Give Kids a Smile
In my spare time, I stay active doing yoga, and playing with my twins, Katie & Kyle, who were born in 2007. My husband John and I, both Iowans, visit our large extended families whenever possible. With the balance of my spare time I like to flower garden and read.
I love the variety of personalities and walks of life that I get to interact with everyday. Smiles can truly change lives and I love that I get to work in a profession that can make that type of impact. I like to greet each day with energy and a love of life, I’m a people person.
Joining Dr. McClaflin’s team in April of 2010 has been a true blessing. Having worked in both the clinical and business side of the dental office has given me a unique perspective of how an office truly works. My goal is to help you have a great experience while in our office. I’m here for you!! I’ll help you understand your dental insurance, your time and cost commitments, and just what will happen at your appointment. One of my strengths is really understanding insurance companies well and what they do and don’t cover. I’ll work for you to help you get the most out of your insurance benefits. I’ll also work hard to help you get what’s best for you: we don’t want you to compromise your care because of cost or time.
My time is split between work and my family; my husband Joey is a teacher and we have 2 awesome kiddos. Trey is a 6th grader and keeps us busy playing both baseball and football competitively and Delaney who was born in February of 2015 is our little princess, who has a contagious smile.
I was lucky enough to be asked to join the McClaflin team in January 2015. I have been in dentistry since 1999 and started my career as a practice administrator; in 2004 I decided to do dental assisting and did that for 10 years and really enjoyed that part of my career. I have now gone full circle as I am now back at the front desk. I carry with me the clinical knowledge of assisting, and this has enabled me to better explain to patients why a certain recommendation was made or how the process of their dental procedure will go. I hope to help coordinate your appointment from the minute you walk through our door to the minute you leave so that it is the most comfortable, efficient and cost effective time for you as it can possibly be! I truly believe that everyone here at McClaflin Dentistry has the patients’ best interest at heart–that’s why I feel so blessed to have landed her at this point in my career!
When I’m not coordinating things at the office, I am coordinating things at home! My husband Tracey and I have 4 kids ranging in age from 9-17. They are all busy in sports and school activities, so trying to figure out which kid needs to be where and when can sometimes be a challenge–however, I wouldn’t trade it for the world! When Tracey and I are not running kids around, we enjoy playing golf and try to get out and play as often as possible.
I joined Dr. McClaflins’ team in May of 2005. I graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1979. I’ve been a registered dental hygienist since then and I love what I do! I enjoy working with patients and educating them on their preventive dental care. I want my patients to have the same experience that I would want to have. I’ve been a hygienist for many years and have worked in many offices, but I’ve got to say that you will not meet a better dentist nor a more sincere person than Dr. McClaflin.
My spouse is Doug Maskill and he works at Moto Fuze. Doug keeps me hopping with his many outdoor interests: hunting and fishing, and he loves to make me giggle and chill.
I have two children. My son Michael works at Vin Solutions as a Senior National Sales Consultant. My daughter Molly is a sonographer at KU Med Center. Her husband Kyle is a Phys Ed teacher and a football and track coach for Liberty North High School.
When I’m not working, I have a jewelry business (SimplyBeDazzling.com) to touch my creative side. I also have many hobbies: running, biking, volunteering, and spending time with friends, to name a few.
Your time with Dr. McClaflin will be a very professional and caring experience.
I became a part of Dr. McClaflin’s dental team in 2015. I grew up in Southern California, and attended Loma Linda University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in dental hygiene in 1986.
I enjoy getting to know my patients, and love helping them expand their dental knowledge. I try to be kind and compassionate, and am always willing to lend a listening ear.
I have been fortunate to work in both general and periodontal practice settings during my career as a hygienist.
I have been married for 28 years, and we have been blessed with 3 wonderful children. I enjoy traveling, walking, hiking and biking. I love crafting and reading as well, and spending time with my family and our large extended family.
I’m Kishia, Dr. McClaflin’s dental assistant. I have been a part of the Mac team since June 2004. I have been in this career path since 1996 after graduating from Concorde Career Institute. Dentistry is my love and passion, and I’m blessed to be able to say “I truly love what I do”. I enjoy taking the fear out of coming to see us, by explaining treatment, holding a hand or whatever it takes to make patients feel comfortable. I also love working with children. Playing games and simply connecting with them is one of my strong points as an assistant.
When I’m not in my dental world, I spend time with my son Pete, who is 22! For patients who have been a part of this practice, “can you believe that?” Pete is in his last year of college at Avila. He is also doing an internship at Northwestern Mutual Funds. I’m very proud of my Boy Wonder!!
I also love serving at my church by praise dancing and having God be the center of my life. I have a passion for fashion and enjoy ripping the runway for local designers and doing photo shoots. Life is amazing and God is good!! I look forward to meeting you sooner than later!
